THE CHARACTER;
Series/Fandom: Final Fantasy XI/Dissidia 012
Character's Name: Prishe
Character's Sex: Female
Character's Age: While Prishe appears to be around her early teens, she's actually much, much older. She's a survivor of the sundering of the Tavnazian archipelago, which occurred two decades prior to the events of Final Fantasy XI, so she's at least 40, but appears to be about 15.
Canon point: Mid-Chains of Promathia, post Dissidia 012.
Abilities:
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Background: "I'm the 'abhorrent one.' I thought if you talked to me you'd be punished by the goddess." | "Like hell! Finders keepers, losers bleeders!"
Appearance:
Personality: "The Abhorrent One". "That Detestable Child". "Keeper of the Apocalypse". Prishe has many titles, none of them anything any person would want tacked onto their reputation. Prishe grew up knowing she had a special destiny; she didn't know it was keeping a shard of darkness-turned-magicite inside of her body. Growing up in a world where people feared what you were and what you might become causes people to react in different ways. Some people become reclusive, bitter and cynical. Others lash out with violence against their oppressors. Still, others do their best to shrug off the fear and continue on with their lives, and that was what Prishe chose to do (albeit probably not consciously).
Prishe is loud and vulgar, she teases people and doesn't bother with niceties or general social norms. She's impatient and demanding, preferring to run off on her own rather than work with people, and won't hesitate to slap you upside the head verbally or physically if she thinks you deserve it. She's easily agitated and excitable, and loves to explore new places and things. Prishe is also the type to not care about who gets in her way (especially if they're annoying Tarutaru children), even if you're someone she considers a friend.
Now, close friends are another story. It's rare to see Prishe tease and mock those she considers close friends, and even rarer still to see someone she considers as such. These rare people (of whom the only one she can currently remember is the Warrior of Light) aren't immune to her overbearing and loud ways; they're just less likely to get the brunt of it. She doesn't like taking 'no' for an answer, and if told not to do something, will more than likely do it anyway. She doesn't like being told what she can and can't do, and while she'll listen to rules when she has to, if she can find a way out of them, that's even better. Prishe doesn't go looking for trouble, but more often than not stumbles across it anyway with a giant grin on her face.
Saying all of this is a front to hide her depressed lonely side isn't a lie, but it isn't a conscious front that Prishe purposely keeps up at all times. She's nearly forty years old stuck in a fourteen year old body; her personality has been formed and set in stone for some time. Perhaps, at one time, her boisterous, confident ways were something she purposefully put forth, but now, Prishe believes that she's the best, will always be the best, and that she doesn't have to give a shit about what anyone says about her. A good portion of the time, she's really good at these things, too.
She takes it hard when people fear her, though. She doesn't show it, not really, but it still happens. At this stage in her life, Prishe is much more likely to be flippant about people's feelings towards her, good or bad -- she's not above making sarcastic remarks about how the Goddess will disown one of her clerics, for instance, when he comes to speak to her in her room. She knows exactly how people feel about her, and in order to live with it, Prishe grew to the point where she could no longer care. She doesn't care that you think she's a bitch. She doesn't care that you think she's a detestable child. She doesn't care, and she will tell you that she doesn't care. Probably deep down, a part of Prishe still really does care how people see her; after all, she agrees to go with one of the Royal Knights of San d'Oria because "otherwise people will continue to doubt and hate [her]". Prishe cares very much for the people of Tavnazia, despite all actions indicating otherwise, and despite the fact that the feeling may or may not be mutual. But, again, it all boils down to her not caring. Prishe is going to do what she wants, regardless if you have a problem with it. She's pushy enough to even try to tell Gods what to do; that was, after all, how the Warrior of Light came to be Cosmos' most dedicated warrior.
Prishe accepts her immortality for what it is, and it makes her a bit of a deathseeker. She can't really get wounded, monsters tend to run away from her instead of towards her, and she hasn't aged a single second since the accident that occurred during her baptism by the Eye of Altana. She's not even certain of this facet of her personality; it's a very rare moment to see Prishe wonder if she really is seeking mortality. It's her general opinion that it's better off if she goes and gets herself chomped by a Wyrm King or axed by a roving band of Beastmen than anyone else she knows. Better her to patrol the edges of a territory and be able to fight whatever she comes across off than send a scouting party and risk losing lives.
